Module 1 Blog

Based off of the information given in module 1 I would say that these are the 3 main points:

  1.  Technology has changed education: since technology has been introduced to education, whether it be through laptops, remote learning, flipped learning, or just having 1:1 technology in the classroom; there is no way that the way kids are learning can stay the same. (Innovations in Schools section, Kevin Bushweller)
  2. Having access to technology is not enough, it needs to be used effectively: Not every one has access to technology or the way different schools use their technology. There are different things in place to help integrate technology with education, like SAMR and TPACK. (Section about the digital divide; Technology for Learning)
  3. Teachers are key in using technology in the classroom: Teacher readiness to use technology is how classrooms can effectively use technology in the classroom. (The Impact of The Instructor, Med Kharbach)

I would say that my personal take away from this was that the it is more important HOW the technology is used rather than just having the technology. Like for instance there are a lot of classes that just give you every single assignment online when realistically it all could have been done on paper, but then there are other classes that effectively use technology whether that be through online webquests or educational games. I think doing it that way makes it a lot more engaging and makes it so that I actually learn something.
